READING TASK TYPE: CLASSIFICATION & MATCHING
30 Oct 2014 admin
Classification and matching in IELTS reading simply aims at your ability to identify relationships between ideas. A numbered list of ideas will be laid out in the text, but there are occasions when these ideas are not in the same order in the text as the numbered list.
- In matching, numbered statements are usually given to match with people, or numbered people to match with statements. Either way, you should scan the text for the people/place and then pay careful attention as you read for an idea that is expressed in one of the statements.
- In classifying, there will be a list of statements or opinions that you need to group or classify based on people, places or ideas. Read the text with utmost care and then select which is most suitable for each statement.
- Be reminded that some categories may be used more than once and there may be some that are not used at all.
