Listening Skills for IELTS: Multiple Choice
20 Aug 2014 admin
Some IELTS multiple choice questions test your understanding of synonyms and some test your understanding of different parts of speech. Here are some tips that you can use as you approach multiple choice questions of the listening section:
•A brief introduction is given at the beginning of each section in the listening test, and test takers are advised to listen to it as they glance over the questions to get a better idea of the content and to help them recognize what specific information they should listen closely for.
•Listen out for synonyms of words and phrases in the choices, the same idea expressed using different parts of speech, and specific information such as dates or numbers.
•You will only have a few seconds to read each section before you get to listen to the text. Afterwards, you will have ten minutes to write your answers on the answer sheet.
•You will only hear the text once. Better make sure that you read the questions and look for key words and phrases before you start listening.
•The questions are always in the same order as you hear the answers.
