One of the fastest ways to improve your grammar is by keeping an error correction notebook of all the mistakes you make in your writing. This will make you focus on and notice what mistakes you are making in your writing. Then, when you come to write again, you should look over your notebook to remind yourself of the areas you need to be careful of. Below is a simple way you can organise your notebook.
Type of error

The main types of error categories for your writing will be grammar, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation and register (whether you have used words that are too formal or informal for the context and audience you are writing for). Try to decide on the general category from those above and then be more specific about what the mistake is. For example, there are many grammatical mistakes you can make with tenses, prepositions, use of conjunctions and so on.
As you categorise the type of errors you make, you may notice that you have many mistakes in one particular area; for example, using articles or prepositions. You can use this information to search for practice activities on Google.
This may sound like a lot of work, but I can guarantee that you will improve VERY quickly if you keep a record. You can’t improve something that you are unaware of. This method makes you notice and become more aware of the mistakes you make in your writing. This is the first step to improving.
